How Much Does Junk Removal Cost in Edmonton 2026 Pricing Guide: 432Yuck YEG
Hey everybody, welcome back to 432 Yuck’s YouTube channel. I’m here with Shane McLean from 432 Yuck. How’s it going today, Shane?
Amazing.
Amazing. That’s good. So, today we’re going to be addressing a question that a lot of people have about junk removal: how much does it cost? How much does junk removal cost in the Edmonton area?
And Shane is the expert. He’s been doing it for a while now and we’re going to share with you all the insights on how to reduce the amount of your junk pickup, how to improve it and how to be prepared for it.
How Junk Removal Companies Calculate Cost
So today the biggest question is how junk removal companies calculate cost. So people have an idea: let’s say you get a call from somebody in Glenora or on Whyte Avenue saying hey I’ve got a house full of junk here I’m just cleaning it out getting ready for renovation. How much is this going to cost me?
So, how do you calculate that?
Yeah. So, first we start off by getting a description of the items and the kind of project that the client is dealing with. And then we usually ask them to send us photos or quick short little videos.
And then we can kind of give them a ballpark and then if they agree to the ballpark, then we send someone to do an on-site quote.
Okay. And then from that with the on-site quote what is the range I guess of pricing that you would have, let’s say so how do you actually measure how much it’s going to cost somebody to get their junk picked up?
Yeah. So we do it by truckload. So it all depends on how much space of the truck that you fill up.
So we have a 20 cubic yard truck. So if you have a quarter of a load or a half a load or three quarters of a load of the truck, that’s how we justify the pricing. We also have just a minimum charge, too. That’s for us to come out and take a couple items or Sure.
Okay. So, right now in 2026, what is your minimum charge?
My minimum charge is 179.
- That’s just to come out, pick up something. And that’s just the minimum price regardless of how small it is, right? So make sure that it’s significant.
Quarter Load And Full Truckload Pricing
Then from there you would go to a quarter load of a truck. Let’s go to the ballpark between one quarter and a full truck. How much is a quarter of a truckload?
About 3.49.
3.49 for a quarter and a full truckload is around a,000 bucks.
Yeah.
Okay. Awesome. So you can get rid of a lot of junk. I guess broken up into segments and those prices include disposal, the labor, the truck comes with two two guys to do all the heavy lifting.
Oh yeah.
The disposal fees, everything’s all included. There’s no hidden fees, right?
So yeah.
So no gotcha charges, no surprises. We quote you a price, that’s what the price is unless you ask for something else to be disposed of while they’re there. Right.
Yes. Exactly.
Okay. So, the next question we’ve got here, what are some examples of common jobs that you’ve done, let’s say, in North Edmonton?
Yeah. And I actually did one this week and it was somebody that was moving. So, they recently sold their house and they were downsizing. So, they ordered one bin, but as they got going, then they needed a second bin. So we were able to do a fast turnover on the fly because they weren’t expecting such a quick Yeah. turnover, right?
Bin Rentals And Common Jobs
So yeah. So I mean it probably worked out good for them because your bin rentals are a little less because you’re not doing the heavy lifting, right?
Exactly. Yeah.
Yeah. So I guess that’s another thing when it comes to bins. You’ve got a nice little smaller bin. How many yards is it?
That’s a 10 yard bin.
So, you’ve got a 10 cubic yard bin that people can rent and it’s around 350 bucks for delivery, pickup, and disposal and all of that, right? Which is a great value when you think about it.
Because if you were going to make multiple trips in a pickup truck, too, a thing you’ve got mileage, wear and tear in your vehicle, you also have to lift it in and out, dump it, all that jazz.
So getting a bin can probably be a big timesaver as well if you have the energy to go ahead and put your refuse in there. Whether you’re mucking out a renovation project or you just got possession of your in-laws house and you got to junk it out, get ready for sale, all that kind of stuff, right?
I’m sure you see all kinds of things like that, right?
Yeah. All types. Yeah. And I like to converse with the clients because they’re in different segments of their lives or different stages of just the process that they’re doing. So I like to hear the stories and where they’re going, where they’re coming from, what made them make the decision that they’re making.
So every story is unique. So I like it.
Nice. Amazing. Next question I’ve got here. What are the things that can make the price go up or down?
What Can Make The Price Go Up Or Down
Yeah, so the biggest thing is usually when we get a description of the items or photos or videos, it takes a day or so for us to book the job and get there and get started, then usually there’s more stuff that gets thrown on as as the clients start thinking about what they’re going to do.
So that usually brings the price up if it’s a large amount. Something that they could do to lower the price is maybe kind of putting everything out in the garage instead of having it spread all over the backyard and the upstairs and the basement because that takes us more time, right?
Yeah. When it comes to unique items like mattresses and dangerous goods and things like that, are there any extra charges for those things?
No. So, we include those pricings in our pricing structure.
There are other companies where they add on those pricings because their structure is priced a little differently. It’s more of an add-on structure than all-in-one, no hidden fees structure, right?
So, okay. So, that’s good. There’s no surprise fees, no gotcha fees because I was noticing just doing some research before that there are some companies that will charge you for mattresses and box springs and those types of disposal items whereas you guys don’t you kind of just include it all in one.
It’s built into the price.
Exactly.
Nice. Now, what are some red flags to watch out for when choosing a junk removal company in Edmonton?
I would say when you’re when you’re calling around and you’re getting quotes, if the company is just ready to give you a a a price over the phone without kind of going into detail, asking questions, getting videos, I I think that’s kind of a red flag because one, they don’t really understand the size of the job.
So once they get there and they under-quote you, then they might change halfway through the job or something like that.
So I think trying to give the most description and information to the junk removal companies as possible.
Yeah. No, that’s good. I think another signal would be to look at their Google reviews of course. Do they have a Google profile and what do their reviews look like?
Yeah.
Right. So there’s a few of those things as well. So, if you had anybody who’s watching this video today and they’re wanting to get you to come out and either remove their junk or provide a bin, what do they have to do?
